Blossoming Briar Rose

The moment a child is born,
the mother is also born.
She never existed before.
The woman existed, but the mother, never.
A mother is something absolutely new.

(Rajneesh)

I remember the moment by babies were born, love like no other floods your heart and soul, a love so very powerful it’s indescribable and indestructible.
A love that grows from the very first second, you knew you were growing a life inside of you.
It blossoms just like a rose.🌹

So when I was asked to make a baby blanket for a gift for an expectant Mother, I knew Briar Rose would be perfect.
“Briar Rose”
is a beautiful pattern by Vanessa from, Hooked on Sunshine.
It’s an absolute dream to make, easy to memorise and exceptionally well written.

Of course it had to be made in white, there was no doubt about that.
I used, Paintbox Simply Aran in colour, Paper White, from Love Crochet.
I love this yarn, it’s soft and durable and washes up a treat.

Perfect to wrap a precious new life in.

So I set about making this very special gift for a new life, a life of hopes, dreams and promises.
A life made out of love.

I made two repeats of the Briar Rose pattern and started the border on the third repeat, finishing on the first round of the border, mainly because gender isn’t known and I feel the completed border is perfect for a little princess but the more simple edge is suitable for either a Prince or a Princess.

I used just slightly over 6 skeins of yarn and it measures roughly 36″x36″ unblocked.

Isn’t it just the perfect baby gift.

Until next time, happy hooking.
