Sadly, this is where Dicks tabloid journey comes to an end. Dick Montague aka Harry Richard Thomas Willats, died on 3 December 1965 in Clayhanger, Staffordshire, when he was 64 years old. He was working as a, Club Steward and still entertaining right up until her died.

I feel kinda sad that his journey is over, I wish I could have met him and watched him perform, hopefully though a little of his wit and love for laughter, has passed on through the generations and we descendants can carry a little piece of him with us.

May he fill the heavens with laughter.

Dick Montague
1901 – 1965

  1. Lily Millie Hilda Wilatts was my sister-in-law’s grandmother & it is believed that she met her husband while performing on the London stage. Reading about so many family members appearing in the theatre this now seems likely.
