Athena and Obito’s Christmas Nativity Journey.

On the night of the most wondrous Christmas Eve, a blanket of soft snow had spread across the rolling hills and quiet village, where twinkling lights and the sweet aroma of pine filled the air. The moon hung high in the heavens, casting a silvery glow over the earth, guiding those who journeyed toward a humble stable in the heart of the village. This night would become the foundation of hope and love for generations to come, and it began with two young pups, Athena, the elegant husky, and her clumsy but affectionate malamute brother, Obito.
Athena, a one-year-old husky with a coat of black, grey and white, was a picture of elegance and wisdom. Her striking bi-colored eyes, one as blue as the winter sky and the other as deep and rich as chestnut wood, sparkled with quiet intelligence and curiosity. With her graceful steps, she moved through the snowy landscape like a gentle breeze, her energy tempered with a sense of purpose. Athena was soft-hearted and gentle, yet if her stubborn streak kicked in, she would be as determined as any dog could be.
Beside her, her five-month-old malamute brother Obito stumbled clumsily in the snow, his oversized paws nearly tripping him over each other. His black, tan, and grey fur looked like a winter’s night sky, with patches of tan like the glow of the evening horizon. Obito’s large, fluffy tail swayed back and forth with joy, and his toe beans, large and round, left soft impressions in the fresh snow with every excited step he took. He was a goofy, affectionate pup, full of energy and love for those around him, but tonight, something about the night’s journey had calmed him.
They had both seen the star, brighter than any they had ever seen before, shining in the night sky. It wasn’t just any star; it was the *Star of Bethlehem*, a beacon of hope and light, and it had called them, just as it had called the wise men, the shepherds, and even the angels. Athena, guided by her sharp instincts and gentle heart, knew that they were meant to follow it.
“Come on, Obito,” Athena said softly, her voice filled with a quiet determination. Her chestnut-colored eye glowed with anticipation. Obito wagged his tail, excited, but still unsure of where exactly they were going. He followed Athena closely, his oversized paws sinking into the snow as he tried to keep up, his innocent eyes glancing at the star above, fascinated by its brilliance.
As Athena and Obito made their way toward the stable, they noticed a soft, otherworldly light ahead. The air seemed to shimmer, and a gentle breeze carried with it a melody of soft voices, voices that echoed like the very sound of peace. The pups’ paws carried them forward, closer to the light, until they reached a clearing in the snowy hills.
There, hovering gracefully, were angels, glowing with radiant light, their wings as delicate as gossamer and their eyes filled with love and joy. They stood in a circle, their voices harmonizing as they sang songs of praise to the newborn King. Their ethereal beauty and celestial presence took Athena’s breath away, and even Obito, usually so full of energy, fell silent in awe.
One of the angels floated gently down to them, her voice soft and sweet. “Fear not, little ones,” she said, her eyes full of kindness. “The child you seek is born in the stable. Follow the star, for it will lead you to Him. He is the Savior, the Prince of Peace.”
Athena’s chestnut eye widened, and she felt a warmth in her heart, a warmth that spread through her entire being. She nodded solemnly to the angel, then turned to Obito. “Come, brother. We must go. We are so close.”
Obito barked happily, his tail wagging fiercely as he bounded after Athena, his clumsy paws kicking up snow in every direction. He was excited, as he always was, but he could feel the magic in the air, too. It was as if the stars themselves were guiding him forward.
As they approached the stable, they encountered a group of shepherds, humble men wrapped in simple robes, who had come to see the child in the manger. They were gathered around the entrance, talking softly among themselves, their faces lit with awe.
The shepherds looked down at Athena and Obito, and smiled warmly, recognizing the same wonder in their eyes. “You’ve come to see Him too, haven’t you?” one of the shepherds asked, his voice gentle.
Athena, ever the wise one, nodded and stood tall beside Obito, who wiggled in excitement, wagging his tail like a blur. The shepherds chuckled at his antics, their hearts light with the joy of the moment. They, too, had followed the star to this place, just as the pups had.
Inside the stable, a humble donkey stood, quietly watching the scene unfold. His large brown eyes were soft and wise, and he seemed to understand the importance of the night as much as anyone. His breath was warm, and his soft whinnies added to the peaceful ambiance of the stable.
“Hello, friend,” Athena whispered, bowing her head in respect to the donkey, who gave a soft snort and leaned down to nuzzle her. Obito, always friendly, padded up and offered the donkey a gentle nudge with his nose. The donkey responded with a gentle nuzzle back, as if welcoming the pups to the sacred place.
As they entered the stable, the soft glow of the baby’s presence filled the room. There, in the wooden manger, lay the newborn child. His face, so innocent and pure, glowed with a light that seemed to radiate peace and love. His mother, Mary, sat beside Him, her face filled with tenderness and awe. Joseph stood beside her, his hand resting protectively on her shoulder, his eyes full of wonder.
The newborn Jesus, wrapped in swaddling clothes, gazed up at the world with a calm and knowing expression. It was as if He already understood the weight of the world’s hope resting in his tiny hands.
Athena’s chestnut-colored eye softened, and she walked forward slowly, her elegant, grey, black and white coat shimmering in the soft light. She bowed her head respectfully, her heart filled with reverence for this child, this King, who would bring peace to the world. She looked back at Obito, whose eyes were wide with innocent wonder. His large paws, awkward as always, padded gently toward the manger. He sat down beside Athena, his large body seeming almost comically out of place in the small, humble stable.
Obito reached out with his oversized paw, his soft toe beans touching the straw beside the baby. His eyes were full of affection, and a small whine escaped his lips, a sign of his deep love for this moment, for the peace that filled the air. Athena, the more reserved of the two, stood with grace, her eyes full of understanding and gentle joy.
The shepherds gathered around, joining the pups in quiet reverence. The angels' voices rose in song once more, a hymn of love and praise. The donkey shifted closer, his warm breath mingling with the holy stillness of the night.
As the night wore on, the world outside seemed distant, as if nothing could disturb the peace of the stable. Athena and Obito, their hearts full of wonder, lay down on the straw, side by side. Athena’s head rested on her paws, her blue and chestnut eyes closing in peaceful reflection. Obito, always the cuddler, pressed close to his sister, his large paws tucked beneath him.
The Star of Bethlehem shone brightly overhead, and the air was filled with the quiet, unspoken promise of love, peace, and hope. On this sacred night, two pups, one elegant and intelligent, the other clumsy and affectionate, had witnessed the birth of a Saviour, a Saviour who would change the world forever.
And in that small, humble stable, surrounded by the warmth of love and the light of the stars, Athena and Obito slept soundly, knowing that this Christmas, the world had been forever changed by the gift of a child.
