As the clouds roll in heavy and the rain starts to fall,
I step out my door, but I’m fearing it all.
Those puddles look harmless, just tiny and round,
But deep down inside, I’m afraid I’ll be drowned!
With each little splash, my imagination takes flight,
What if I slip and am lost out of sight?
My family laugh and frolic, they’re bounding with glee,
While I’m plotting escape routes—oh, the horror is real!
“Just a little water!” they call with a cheer,
But to me, it’s a lake, and I’m drowning in fear!
I glance at the puddles, they shimmer and gleam,
But I see them as whirlpools, a watery end.
I envision a rescue, a lifebuoy in hand,
As I flounder and flail in this treacherous land.
A duck quacks in laughter, “Come join me, my friend!”
But I’m dodging the puddles, this madness must end!
So I leap with precision, a dance on the brink,
Avoiding each puddle, I’m quick on the think.
But one little misstep, and I might take a dive,
And soon I’ll be swimming just to stay alive!
So here’s to the rain, may it fall with a grin,
But I’ll keep my distance from the puddles within.
For while others find joy in the wet and the wild,
I'm afraid of the depths where the unknown’s spread
it is once again beautiful, well done x x
