Crochet Crush – May/June 2020 – The Coral Story Afghan

Lots of crocheters have been struggling with lack of crojo during the Covid-19 lockdown, as I have.
Mine has gotten so bad, I’ve even turned around to my hubby and said “I hope I haven’t fallen out of love with crochet.” Life would be pretty Miserable without it.
It’s gotten to a point where I would rather find anything else to do than pick up my hook and that saddens my soul. It’s been my coping mechanism for so long now I really don’t know what I would do without it.
So when Tatsiana from “LillaBjörn’s Crochet World” released her new pattern called “The Coral Story Blanket” it was such a pleasure to feel a fire light within my belly.

It was also perfect timing, as I have just finished my Indiana Afghan. (Pop back over the next few days to find out all about it.)

Tatsiana, from day one even before I could Crochet, was my favourite
Overlay Crochet designer. I’ve made quite a few of her designs now and I always thoroughly enjoy them.
Her pattern writing skills are up there with the best.
Not only is she the queen of Overlay crochet, she designs the most fantastic garments and accessories.
Also breathtaking Mandalas, squares and cushions and her blankets are to die for.
She’s all round pretty damn awesome at this crochet malarkey.

I haven’t plucked up the courage to try one of her garments yet but I’m totally in love with her Fjell Cardigan. I’m so going to have to pluck up the courage and give it ago.
Tatsiana uses many different crochet techniques, from Overlay crochet, Mosaic crochet, Tapestry crochet, to Brioche crochet.
I have tried all of them, apart from Brioche crochet.
And luck would have it, her new “Coral Story Blanket” is made using Brioche crochet. 😃

“The Coral Story Blanket” pattern is made up of two motifs, a full brioche hexagon and a kind of “solid” one for adding interest to the texture. And a half hexagons to fill the gaps along the edges.

Aren’t they just the cutest.
