Round Up, Round Up – August 2020

Summer may be full of memories made, bbq’s, picnics, ice creams and lazy Sunday afternoons relaxing in the warmth from cloudless sky’s, but when the weather gets cooler and the leaves start falling, we can tell that a change is happening.
Bonfires, fireworks, Pumpkins, hot chocolate, warm jumpers, oversized hoodies, fluffy socks, snuggly blankets , open fires, candle lit rooms, the crunch of fallen leaves underfoot, these are all things we have to look forward to in the coming weeks.

They are all kinda magical in their own special way.
The beauty of Autumn leads us from the hot, bright sunny months into the cold, dark nights of winter and all of the fun and hustle and bustle the end of the year Celebrations and Christmas spirit will hopefully bring.
How wonderful is it the autumn gives us a show of delicious colours, from greens to light yellows, deep golds, orange, crimson and dark red
🍂 before the winter bleak dark days carry us forward to Christmas feasts, a new year, new beginnings and a chance to make 2021 a better year. A year to reflect on how 2020 changed an already crazy world into something even crazier, something  unrecognisable.
A year to reflect, to be greatful, to live the best life you can live.
As we entered the year 2020, I was excited for the possibility’s that laid ahead of us, for the joyful  memories we would make. Memories that have taken us all down paths we never dreamed were possible.
This time last year, would any of us have believed that we would be where we are now, that we would be wearing masks to shop or homeschooling our children ?
😷
It’s beyond crazy.
Even with all the craziness I have to say that even though 2020 has made history in so many ways, it’s been hard going, depressing and mega stressful, I for one have made some of the most wonderful memories.
I’ve loved having my family at my side and I’m grateful for the time we have shared, and in that respect 2020 has been pretty damn awesome.

🚍

Phillippe.
Reno has been slow that’s for sure as Phillippe was a little poorly and had to have lots of welding done so he could pass the mot.

We did try to do some bits and pieces while he was getting the much needed tlc but every time we got out the tools to make cupboard doors the heavens would open. It seems to happen every single time at the moment so our next little project over the winter months will be turning our summer house into a small workshop so at least in bad weather we will have a space we can cut wood with an extra bonus of keeping the power tools noise down.
We always feel bad when we have to cut wood etc if our lovely neighbours are out enjoying their garden and the sunshine.
Even though we have still got a lot of work to do, mainly making the kitchen cupboards, we have just got home from a long weekend holiday in Devon. It was our first trip away since owning and renovating Phillippe and it was pure bliss. So relaxing and just what we needed.
We didn’t get up to much. We chilled out in my sister Kerry and brother in-law Smith’s, big American RV, Georgie Boy.(I want one)
We watched movies and ate more than we should have.
We took a slow sunshine filled walk around Brixhan, ate some more and indulged in bbq cooked by Smithys fine hands.🍗(first time he has ever cooked for me.)
It was utterly relaxing and the best company ever. Thanks Ker and Smithy for a lovely weekend, let’s book the next! 🚍

🧶

Crochet.
August has been so full on that I just haven’t had time to pick up my hook. I think I manage an hour or two on my waffle Afghan but that’s it.
I’m beginning to really miss crochet. Hopefully September will slow down a little and I can loose myself in some hook therapy.

However I did play with a yarn of some sorts and made a bench from scratch. I’m mega pleased with it and pretty proud that I actually pulled it off and made something with my own two hands.
You can read all about it here.

I think that about sums our August up apart from work, work and more work, unreliable companies who think the Coronavirus is an excuse for appalling customer service.
September however is looking fun, with vow renewal plans in full flow. Eeekkkk we are getting suits fitted and brought and I have my first dress fitting. Hopefully we will get to see the final mockup of our flowers to. 💐
Pop back soon to find out all about how the plans are going and please keep your fingers crossed that COVID doesn’t stop our special evening from going ahead.

Until next time, stay safe, stay true, stay you.
Too-da-loo.
