Crochet Crush – February/March 2020 – Marnie’s Garden

You may have guessed that Vanessa Smith, from Hooked on Sunshine’s patterns are some of my absolute favourites. Her patterns are just an absolute pleasure to make. Her pattern writing skills are second to none, very easy to follow and beautifully presented.
Her Afghans are beyond breathtaking. I just love, love, love them.
Vanessa has been a busy bee and once again designed the most jaw dropping blanket called “Marnie’s Garden”
Not only that but she also has, not one but two Crochet Alongs. The first one is her Famous “Atlanticus

and the second one is a Afghan designed by some of the ladies in her test teams.
They chose all of the stitchwork, put the overall design together, typed, formatted and tested the pattern. Vanessa only had to take the pictures.
It’s called “Sunshine Kisses & Fairy Wishes.”

Part one to four are already available so it’s a great time to jump on the bandwagon.

It’s “Marnie’s Garden” that has stolen my heart.

Marnie’s Garden, is a repeat blanket (the pattern works through a set amount of rounds and then repeats itself), giving you the option to customize to any size your heart dreams up. Colour choices are endless or you can make a timeless heirloom made from only one colour.
I’ve seen some absolutely beauty’s already and can’t wait to sink my teeth into my own.

So where did Vanessa get her inspiration from?
Vanessa wrote on Ravelry

“My very bestest bestie and I have been buddies for almost 30 years now, we have shared everything for the longest time, including Moms. When all the kiddos were little, they struggled a bit with Marge (who is Lindsay’s mom but my mother from another sister – as we say in SA) and so she became Marnie.
Marnie has been part of my life for the longest time and she so loves her flowers, hence Marnie’s garden as a matter of fact, she even did all the flowers for my wedding when I got married, so it’s the perfect blanket for her, I think
It has an even more special place in my little heart because it was specifically designed for an amazing cruise I was invited on last year with Crafty Adventures, so it brings back such beautiful memories of such an amazing adventure.”
