than sleeping in your own bed.
I beg to differ!
There is no bed better to sleep in than at,
Oak Apple Lodge.

We just spent a night away glamping for my hubby Marks birthday.
As our camper Phillippe isn’t in any fit state to go on adventures. We booked a night in a sarfia tent, our first glamping adventure and we were not disappointed.
What an amazing experience, one I want to do over and over.

We booked our night away through the Airbnb app, an app I highly recommend.
From booking our stay to heading home the whole trip was a delight.
Communication was second to none, it was excellent, truly excellent.
Lesley our host and owner of three safari tents in Beaminster, Dorset, England, is such a kind, helpful lady. She went above and beyond what you would expect, even messaging us when she heard the weather forecast was going to be diabolical the night we were due to stay, offering us to reschedule if we wanted.

On our arrival the weather was awful, torrential rain and high winds. We were met by Julian, Lesleys husband, who talked us through what to expect.
We took the short walk from the parking area across a field to the tent.⛺️
We were not quite sure what to expect but were blown away by not only the size, the space but the beautiful decor and cosiness that awaited us inside the tent.

 

It was everything you could wish for, for a romantic night away from home.
We put the two heater on and before we knew it, we were warm as toast.
Lesley had very kindly given me a list of the places she recommended to eat if we fancied venturing out but we decided on an Indian takeaway from, Bombay Spice, Beaminster.

I’m the first to admit that I’m very picky when it comes to meat and the size of it in Indian and Chinese dishes. Thankfully it was almost perfect and the flavours were exquisite, one of the best Indian takeaways I’ve ever had.
After we had eaten we settled down to watch a few movies which we had brought with us to watch on our laptop. (There is no t.v in the tent, which is what we wanted until the weather decided to play the devil)

We had such a relaxing evening and just before bed, the weather broke,the skies cleared and the stars shone bright.
Mark was in his element but unfortunately hadn’t brought his camera with him, which was such a shame as there is no light pollution and perfect for night photography.
After a good hour of star glazing, the cold had set into my bones and we headed to the heated bed.

I slept like a baby, better than I have slept in years. I’m an awful sleeper normally, waking at least five times a night.
The bed was so incredibly comfortable that I only woke once and drifted straight back off to sleep.

We awoke around 7, to birds singing and beautiful moody sky’s.
We drank coffee on the deck, watching the horses in the fields and at least 15 deer dancing carefree in the morning sun rays. Not a sight many of us get to see.

We ate Lesleys homemade scones with clotted cream and jam, which were  waiting for us on our arrival. They were mouthwatering delicious and such a lovely touch.

Sadly our trip was over and we had to head back to the real world. We could have easily stayed forever and hope to return in the very near future.

 

Mark and I highly recommend a stay at, Oak Apple Lodge. I write this through gritted teeth as although I believe you all should experience a night or more in one of Lesley and Jullian’s safari tents, Oak Apple Lodge, Tanglewood Safari Tent or Deerland Safari Tent.
We really don’t want them to get booked up, as we are already itching to go back.

Trust me when I say, book now to avoid disappointment.
